About Leigh Rockets

Leigh Rockets "Rockets" was founded in 1993 by a few parents who organised a regular 'kick-about' at Blenheim Park with their children and friends.

Since then the Club has grown from strength to strength and now has teams running from under 7s to under 10s in the Southend Essex Primary Mini Soccer League, and from under 11s to under 16s in the Southend and District Junior Sunday League. The club also has a very successful Girls Academy which runs teams from under 12s to under 16s in the Essex County Girls Football League. The Club runs coaching for under 6’s, which is all about the children having fun and enjoying themselves.

The club now have a specialised Goal Keeping coach who runs training sessions each week for the clubs goal keepers and this has made a great difference over the past 6 months. Sometimes goal keepers tend to get forgotten about when it comes to coaching the whole team so it is great to be able to offer specialised coaching.

The Club also organises regular Saturday (and some mid week) coaching, various fun-days, social events for children and parents, and our annual Football Tournaments for both boys and girls.

Rockets has a written constitution and is administered by a committee who are elected annually at the Club's AGM. The Objects of the Club are:

  • To provide and promote the game of football for children and youths
  • To participate in leagues and tournaments as decided by the committee
  • To provide social activities and strive to improve the facilities of the Club for the benefit of all members

Rockets is a Standard Charter Club awarded by the F.A.

Rockets also have a strict child protection policy and the club have appointed their own Child Welfare Officer.
